August 24.  Welcome, to this week's newsletter.  We've had several suggestions that as part of our 10th anniversary celebration we should interview members about their retirement searches and experiences. If you would like to be interviewed please respond to this email.

Good news in the housing market (for those selling anyway). New home sales in July were the highest since 2008. The median sales price was $294,600, actually down a little bit as smaller homes for first time buyers became more important.

People of all ages are moving to Salt Lake and surrounding area for the mountains, sunny weather, and the healthy economy. Factoid: Utah has a higher percentage of volunteering than any state.
Staying busy is the key to a happy retirement for most people. Today we've got some great ideas for volunteer gigs and how to find one. We also want to hear more about the jobs you are doing.
The Huffington Post called Roanoke the #2 Most Affordable City to Retire, based on lower taxes and cost of living. It is attracting retirees because of its urban renewal efforts and its location in southwest Virginia.
